PoV: Skyrim in 3D? |
Listed in: PS3 Tags: Bethesda, the elder scrolls v: skyrim
Don’t count on it, says Bethesda's Todd Howard as it only "ruins the image." And personally, I have to agree with his statement.
Stereoscopic 3D can work in two ways, either offering gamers a more immersive experience or it could ruin the gameplay all along. And in this case, according to Howard, the latter applies.
"Honestly, I couldn't care less - having to wear those glasses! I'm not a 3D fan," he said when asked by PSM3 magazine whether he was interested in the technology.
"It ruins the image for me. I want the clarity," he continued, before PSM3 asked whether he thought 3D would stick as a technology. I think everyone's going to keep trying," he said. "But I'm not sure."
And I got to agree with Howard on this one. The technology can work in some games, but if it will only ruin the experience and become a hindrance, it's better not to include it.

I guess the PS3 won't get 3D, but nVidia will make sure we get 3D on Skyrim. Otherwise they won't have happy customers.
And no 3D cause it would ruin the game? Cause he doesn't like it? 'Ruining the clarity'That's just the most stupid thing i've ever heard. You don't have to play it in 3D if you don't like it and I bet most people would that own 3D kits would like it (Me for example) They're just too lazy to make it 100% 3D compatible. I just hope they don't pull a Crysis 2.
And you seem to know nothing about 3D, so please stop spreading your irrelevant opinions.

2D game = 2D
3D game = 3D AND 2D
Plus, any DirectX game can be played in 3D. The only fall back is no 3D FMVs. So by that logic alone according to this Todd moron is that ALL PC GAMES are ruined.
What a tool.

Just turn it off! Bam, instant 2D. You can NOT ruin the look of a game by offering 3D. What on earth are you talking about?
"And I got to agree"
Let me fix that for you:
I have to agree with Howard on this one.
A 4th grade teacher would scold you on that one.

Maybe when 3D tech gets implemented into TVs in the way that the 3DS did, we'll see more things compatible with 3D.
As of right now it's just an eye sore.
Maybe someone will make a 3D mod for Skyrim when it comes out.

Than take them off! Again, what is so hard to understand about that? Take off the glasses and play the game in 2D. Leave the 3D for those that like it.
However, no, I flat out disagree with that. After having played tons of games in 3D it does not ruin "immersion". Not for me anyway. Does everyone who wears glasses have ruined immersion? No. Does everyone who wears sunglasses have ruined immersion? No.
If you don't want to develop a game in 3D then don't. But don't make up BS.

Gets rid of the pixel look almost completely.

on Crysis and some other games that have good 3D, the depth
gets better, and the image gets sharper.
Its a shame more people don't realize that.

I don't need that "special effect" in a game to make it better.
I think 3D is overrated when it comes to games, although I think it will stick with some films.
But in the game-world, at least RPGs like Skyrim/Morowind/oblvion etc, it's not good for anything if you ask me. But that is my opinion though.
3D = shit in games!
