PoV: Should PSN Plus users receive compensation for the recent PSN outage? |
Listed in: PS3 Tags: PlayStation Network, playstation plus, Sony
Since PlayStation Plus is a paid service, users deserve to be compensated in one way or another.

For the seventh consecutive day, Sony's PlayStation Network is still offline. The firm recently stated that currently they "don’t have an update or timeframe to share," previously noting that "this is a time intensive process" and they are working round the clock to get back the PlayStation Network online quickly.
But still, many PlayStation 3 gamers are left in the dark trying to find answers, specially those who've subscribed in the PlayStation Plus service. Unlike the standard PSN access, PlayStation Plus isn't free. You have to pay a subscription fee in order to access some exclusive perks. With no fix in sight, the outage warrants its subscribers to enjoy the paid services they expect to receive. And as a consumer, who have brought the service, we don't only need a thorough explanation of what exactly happened that cause the outage, we also deserve to have a reimbursement for the lost time that we paid for.
Do you think Sony will compensate for the PlayStation Network outage? Share your thoughts below or continue the discussion at the forums.

People like me, who never updated because they don't want to lose it and don't use any of the hacker-created apps/firmware, have to deal with a PSN outage everyday.

Imagine... Tomorrow, Microsoft could announce a new update: Windows will no longer support internet and network connections due to security risks! Also, no programs that are not from a certified Microsoft-Distributor may be installed any longer!
Oh wait... That's the state of the PS3 right now :-/
But I guess if M$ did something like this, every forum in the WWW would be flooded with QQ... Oh wait, no internet connection - no flooding. What a great idea! *notes that in worlddomination .txt*

I wouldn't call it free when the pay for the service.

Dude the "free" stuff only extends to as long as they have a ps plus account. plus is kinda useless IMO.

God forbid someone read a book while they wait for their online video game to come back online. Or gee, play local. What an IDEA!!!

With the Playstation blog post they just put up about having PSN users personal data possibly being compromised (inc, CC info), it would seem EXTREMELY unlikely Sony would forgo some kind of "goodwill/apology-gift" to its user base, paid or otherwise.

However, shutting us down for a week at time is not what I believe I paid for. Nor did I pay for personal data to get compromised. Lastly I don't like just being told that sometime in the future It will be back up. If it's going to be down all month at least have the guts to tell us Sony.
Either way I'm pretty sure we won't be compensated for the service we pay for and can't use. Due to the email they sent me back.
Thank you for contacting us regarding compensation for your PlayStation®Plu s subscription and services that you have paid for due to the PlayStation®Net work outage. We do understand your frustration with the situation PlayStation®Net work users such as yourself have encountered. While we know that not being able to access your PSN account is an inconvenience; and, as much as we would like to be able to offer you some form of compensation for your time lost. We are unable to honor this request. I know that this is not the answer you have been hoping to receive, and I apologize that we do not have a different resolution for you.
Any updates regarding this matter will be made at
