id Software and Bethesda's latest title, Rage, came out this week. How does the game hold up early on?

Rage feels very much like a Fallout title. The world has been largely destroyed due to an asteroid impact on Earth, resulting in a wasteland (cleverly named the Wasteland) being controlled by rogue gangs and bandits.
The gameplay itself feels like a recent Fallout title, only without the RPG elements. First person gunfights feel much more natural and fluid, and the game's visuals are pretty fantastic despite an incredibly bland and boring setting. One major issue with the visuals, however, are with texture rendering. Textures will oftentimes be slow to render, resulting in muddy surfaces suddenly becoming detailed.
Rage features vehicles in the form of an ATV and a buggy, making traveling from location to location a painless procedure.
Expect a full review in the coming days. For now, what do you think of Rage? Let us know in the comments section below and be sure to continue the discussion on our community forums.

It's not trying to be borderlands. iD software has always tried to do their own thing. Either way I like it so far. Excellent gameplay mechanics from id software (thats where they shine the most)
