The Mass Effect series has always been known as a single player focused experience, but that could change with the latest iteration of the series if the latest cover story from a UK gaming magazine is true.

Posted on the cover of Xbox World 360 is the confirmation that Mass Effect 3 will have, “New Levels – And Multiplayer!”  Though no details have been given on what exactly the multiplayer aspect of the game will look like, another rumor is pointing out that it will be officially unveiled at the upcoming Gamescom event later this month.

Personally, I prefer the upcoming title to have no multiplayer at all, just like the previous one.  It seems like this is another tacked on addition by the greedy publishers to boost sales and further milk down the franchise. Not every game needs a multiplayer mode, and the Mass Effect series is one of them.

How do you feel about this folks? Do you want multiplayer in Mass Effect 3? Share your thoughts below or continue the discussion at the forums.

If its a mode that enhances the single player experience i wont be to bothered, but if its player vs player, then im going to need a beta before i decide on that, however you are right mass effect has always been a single player game!

Hey Ryan F. and all the other journalists:
PLEASE stop saying "greedy publishers" in half of your posts. They are a company. They try to make a profit. They make whatever money they can. It is how America works. It is how the world pretty much works now. They aren't greedy bastards like you make them out to be. They are trying TO MAKE MONEY! And if people buy the game because of multiplayer, at least enough people to offset multiplayer development costs, then it was worth it. That is my PoV.

a COmpany make money is okay, a company be kinda greed addin lot of stuffs in a game, even if broke the game perfect balance just to self more is not ok, mass effect in principle is a single player game the most multiplayr they can make out of it would be adding a co-op three player mode, adding a shooting festival just turn the game in to a Crap COD...

Bioware adding a multiplayer experience in the game makes me wonder if they are being greedy or just thinking in make the game better...

Cuz really i don't want the the Bioware turn in to a Capcom or Actvision...

As long as the single player isn't affected by the multiplayer in any negative way, I'm fine with it. Take Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and Revelations as examples. The multiplayer portions of those games are developed by a different studio, allowing Ubisoft Montreal to focus on the single player.

I'm kind of torn between on this however I feel that if the multiplayer is on a separate disc coming with the game purchase then it would be worthwhile to have it. I do not want it to be included on the main game though and I still want my staple single player experience within this game.

I don't mind as long as the single-player is till as great as the previous ones.
I would like it to have a co-op and pvp mode. I remember in ME one of DLC had a virtual missions place, and you would take your team up against AI, and I thought, "this would be great for multi-player". However if this will cause the campaign to be less focused on then I'll pass on mp. :sigh:

Working in co-op mode then it's a great multiplayer feature.

These PoV's are really pointless and complete bullshit.

Still, some people might be greedy, but not all. If multiplayer ends up profitable, and doesn't hurt the sale of the possible ME 4, (ME3 ends up sucking cause of multiplayer) then it was the good business choice.
