Sony said that only a “very small percentage” of customers cancelled their PSN accounts after the PSN went back online.

psn

Sony Computer Entertainment president Kaz Hirai has told the Wall Street Journal that they did not see any major cancellations since the service got restored two days ago. Hirai said that only “a very small percentage” of calls to Sony’s PlayStation call centers involved customers looking to cancel their PSN accounts, though, he did acknowledge the fact that it was too early to draw any firm conclusions based on the findings.

"We have done everything possible and reasonable to make sure that a system is secure from attack," Hirai added.

Personally, I was quite disappointed on how Sony handled the whole situation, however, it didn't crossed my mind to cancel my PSN account because of the attack. And there are too many exclusives that I will be missing out if I switch now just because of this minor slip up.

People have forgotten what its like to play single player games... In a way online gaming has ruined social life... what ever happened to the multitap days? Getting your friends around to have a session playing Smackdown 2 or a league on fifa/PES.

People just overacted when the PSN went down, it amazes me when I see loadsa people trading in their PS3's for 360's with CoD - These are the people who don't deserve to be able to game.

And before I get flamed by you pesky gamers that fall in to this category I don't care what you have to say. This is my opinion on the gaming community if you don't like do one...

lol multitap. to be fair I think the fact that consoles can handle more joypads killed that off (I assume the 360 can have at least 4 controllers at once)

certainly agree with your second paragraph though. its pathetic. a little bit of downtime and they suddenly find paying for a service that has even been down for a good while in the past a good thing.
braindead imo

I know exactly what you mean. I remember staying up really late as a kid with my friends playing video games in the SAME ROOM on the SAME TV. It was fun because we were all there laughing, eating chips and getting high on sugar playing goldeneye, mario kart or killer instinct gold. We still have those nights every now and then (to quell the nostalgia) but now playing games online is just not the same.

I'd really like to see some devs throw it back to the good old days of split screen multiplayer.

Also, I really want to see a 20 gig 16-bit rpg in the vein of chrono trigger. :)

Could you imagine...?

People have become such sissies these days. Because of this you will cancel your psn account and switch to whatever else? As if any system or network is perfect. Life isn't perfect; deal with it. Mature a bit and learn to deal with disappointments . Just sad!!

what is going to happen? most of that info was probably false and/or out of date or useless and it doesnt take much to cancel a card (info theft happens all the time, everywhere)

Exactly. My fiancée and her mother both had illegitimate charges made on their cards within a month of each other for 500 and 2000 dollars respectively and I can assure you that neither of them have psn accounts.

What happened? Their accounts were credited and their card numbers/info was changed.

Just another day in the world of cyber brats.

People canceled their PSN accounts? Why? Just stop using it. It was free. I doubt canceling it removes anything from their system. It probably just switches you off. So it's not like you are protecting anything. What a waste of time.

How has it affected me? Easy, I played more PC or more 3DS or more Wii. Gee, that was hard.

I cancelled my C Card and because of the influx of cancellations with my bank its taken almost a month to get a new one. P: Very inconvenient but you know what? Shit happens, and I don't feel any ill will towards Sony.

My laser decided to go Tits Up a few days before the outage, so i guess it was good timing.

oh wait, i never play online anyway, so i guess it didn't matter one way or the other.

Didn't affect me too much, of course i wanted to play MAG and Red Dead Redemption online but this outage gave me a great opportunity to increase my trophy count. During that 3 week period, i went from around 24X Trophies to 423 Trophies.
