A recent survey revealed that a vast majority of gamers have now lost their trust in games publishers because of the recent security breaches.

The folks at MCV recently surveyed 633 gamers in the United kingdom who use digital services such as the PlayStation Network, iTunes, Steam and other digital medium. They found that 34 percent of respondents had doubt that most publishers are capable of protecting the personal information. Another 20 percent said that they don’t trust download services at all.
A third of the respondents said that they have deleted their accounts after a slew of cyber attacks in recent months, while another say that they did not know what actions to take if their data has been compromised. Finally, over 54 percent of those that were surveyed said that they were unhappy with the level of communication they received from publishers following the attacks.
If the recent security hacks have taught us anything, it's how weak and vulnerable online services really is. Until the authorities can find the right solution to the problem and video games companies can invest in protecting their consumers, I'm still afraid to share my personal info and purchase online.
How about you guys? How has the latest hacking spree affected your online confidence? What advice would you give to fellow gamers before stepping online? Share your thoughts below or continue the discussion at the forums.
