PoV: Homefront 2 could be the one to watch

It looks like THQ has finally found the right formula by signing up Crytek to handle the next installment of Homefront.

Personally, I like what Kaos Studios did on the first one as it offered a refreshing take to the genre. Though there are a few problems, like the sluggish controls and the short single player campaign, overall, I enjoyed the game. So I'm very excited to hear that Crytek is taking over the series. This means that the next installment of the series will receive a serious overhaul that will make use of Crytek's own CryEngine technology. As Crytek boss Cervat Yerli noted: “We see Homefront as a really strong universe that has a lot of potential and that has been expertly created and marketed by THQ, We believe that bringing our level of quality, creativity and production values to the next Homefront title, creates an opportunity for both THQ and Crytek to deliver a truly blockbuster game."

Choosing Crytek to make the next Homefront is definitely a step in the right direction for THQ, afterall, in the over-saturated FPS market, you could only go as far as the hype. And what does it mean for all of us? Hopefully, this will encourage other FPS developers to step up there game. But can Crytek deliver? Let's just wait and see then.

I very much doubt it.

Look at how bad the first one was.

THQ are never involved with great games, only bandwagon jump ons (saints row/gta , homefront/cod, see the patten) and crap.

I disagree.

Homefront was an excellent game despite it's rather short single-player (cliffhanger for a sequel). It took the best parts of Battlefield and Call of Duty and merged them in to one with it's own unique element.
