Free game downloads, a free month of PlayStation Plus, movie rentals on select weekends, plus other freebies awaits customers who have been affected by the recent PSN outage. But is it any good?

Sony has detailed its "Welcome Back" program earlier, offering PlayStation Network users who had registered accounts prior to the outage a slew of freebies and then some. This includes:
- Two of the following games free of charge for PS3 owners:
- Dead Nation
- inFAMOUS
- LittleBigPlanet
- Super Stardust HD (Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty for Europe)
- Wipeout HD + Fury
- Two of the following games free of charge for PSP owners:
- LittleBigPlanet (PSP)
- ModNation Racers
- Pursuit Force
- Killzone Liberation
- A selection of “On Us” rental movie titles will be available to PlayStation Network customers over one weekend, where Video Service is available. Those titles will be announced soon.
- 30 days free PlayStation Plus membership for non PlayStation Plus subscribers.
- Existing PlayStation Plus subscribers will receive an additional 60 days of free subscription.
- Existing Music Unlimited Premium Trial subscription members will receive an additional 30 days of free premium subscription.
- Additional 30 days + time lost for existing members of Music Unlimited Premium/Basic subscription free of charge for existing Premium/Basic members.
- 100 free virtual items for PlayStation Home with additional free content soon, including the next addition to the Home Mansion personal space, and Ooblag’s Alien Casino, an exclusive game.
All the contents above will be available once services are fully restored. Personally, I'm pretty impressed with Sony's compensation package even though in the first place, they owe us nothing for a free service. Yes, they are partly to blame with the recent PSN breach, but now that they have learned their lesson, we can expect a more secure service next time you log-in to PSN and its other services. They've also made a hell of an effort for the "Welcome Back" program even though they are already taking a huge loss in profits. Props to Sony for the effort and hopefully, we won't encounter this problem again.
How about you guys? What do you think about Sony's "customer appreciation" program? Are you satisfied with the list of games being offered? Share your thoughts below or continue the discussion at the forums.

Anyways, it's not a bad selection of games.. Buuut, it's also very old games.. I for one have completed everything in both wipeout, lbp and infamous.. Sequels if these particular games are already out..
These games theyre offering can be bought for like 4-5 euros in any shop used..
But not bad, must admit I expected a bit newer stuff

Yeaaah, so we get $20 of free crap alongside a 30 marketing gimmick. Oh, and let's not forget the "PS Home Special Content", a bunch of virtual stuff for that useless software that most of us never use. 77Mil subs, and last I saw (November'ish) less than 1/20th of them had ever used Home.
But hey, at least they're trying. I'm sure the freebies, but mostly the return of the network, will be enough to satisfy PS3 loyalists out there. However, I'd also bet that there were a lot of PS3 -> 360 trade-ins over the last month. I mean, gamers gotta game, right?

people really shouldn't be "happy that the service is back up" or "free games"
who cares if the data was encrypted or not, the fact is your credit card information, facebook login/password (not encrypted), etc has been compromised. i was very pro sony and refused to ever go back to xbox but i have now spent well over 2-3k in the last couple months on new xbox stuff, games, DLC, etc; because of sony repeatedly dropping the ball in multiple aspects. basically, i'm chosing the lesser of two evils now.
you're all sheep; sony won't be getting any purchases from me anytime in the near future and i actually feel bad for all the people i sold sony products to over the holidays while promoting ps3 and the move. this gesture of good faith is pitiful and we deserve so much more for their inability to secure their networks when they're a global company worth billons. they started the war with the lawsuits, consumers were caught in the crossfire and we get mere pocket change to sony, in return.

When countless other companies have had their data stolen, customers have gotten nothing.
"you're all sheep"
And you're ignorant. Do you have any clue as to how many times every MONTH some server somewhere get's its data leaked?
