PoV: Are you satisfied with Sony's "make good" plan?

Over the weekend, Sony held a press conference to address the recent PSN security breach, outlining its plan to bring back the PlayStation Network online and detailing its peace offering to frustrated users.

psn1

The "welcome back" program, which will go live as soon as the PSN service will be restored is said to include select PlayStation entertainment content" for free to download, "30 days of PlayStation Plus for free for all existing PlayStation Network users, 30 days of free membership in the PlayStation Plus premium subscription service; 30 days of free service for Music Unlimited subscribers; and extending PlayStation Plus and Music Unlimited subscriptions for the number of days services were unavailable."

The question now is: Are you satisfied with Sony's "make good" plan?

I like the idea of giving free contents to users to make up for the whole PSN debacle. Personally, I was only looking forward to just having the PSN back up, but with this extra stuff, you gotta give some props to Sony. It's nice to see them giving back to the community for a change.

How about you guys? Are you satisfied with Sony's "welcome back" program? Share your thoughts below or continue the discussion at the forums.

I don't think I'm satisfied, especially if after the 30 day period all our "Free downloads" stop working...?

I hope now though, after all we (as have sony) have been put through alot.

When sony was suing, she was a b!tch.
And now everyone else is suing her cause they can't play online.. F@gs!! Go out and breathe something else than your farts! And get a social life outside your console..

I can't play either, but that doesn't mean my life stops till psn is back..

On topic now, yeap, that's a good move!
Maybe more free stuff will be available later. :-)

They'd be suing for the loss of personal information and potential identity theft. PSN being down is merely a small side effect to the larger issue.

your lack of grammar and the way you structured your sentences suggests you are trolling... but I'm in doubt whether you are trolling or just stupid...

and don't worry, you can say bitch on the internet, mom won't find out...

About the grammar stuff, I'm greek.

Trolling.. It's just my opinion, if you think saying your opinion is trolling, well that's your problem.

You have no idea how old I am, so give it a rest with the mom stuff.

So now go on and blame someone cause you can't play on psn and you're pissed off.

Mate, I agree with most of what you say, but MOST of the people suing Sony are suing them purely because of the information leak, and not the PSN downtime.

Jelster: Any judge who hears your complaints will most likely tell you the same thing as anybody else on this forum who has had the misfortune of reading your whiny posts over the last few weeks: "Get a life you sorry loser."
PSN was never setup to provide you with an alternative to a functional social life, so give up the yapping already.

I would of been happier with nothing. They have taken their stupid mistake and turned it into a marketing campaign for PlayStation Plus. What do you think is going to happen at the end of 30 days? They are going to hold their hands out for more money.

They could've made sure since the beginning that their services were secure instead of more than 25 million personal data being stolen!

WOW!! suprisingly, I agree.

Sony dont give a sheet about you. the PSN+ will make sure people get back into the habit of spending money, and Sony will take back the games when the month is over... so you can buy em again. HAHAHAHAHA

SONY HATES YOU!!!

Habit of spending money on Sony PS Plus? Man, I never spent a cent on the PS Store and never will, but I don't mind free content.

# Free stuff...Chuggman 2011-05-05 09:33
If the "free" stuff is tied to the PSN plus account then people will be very unhappy once the 30 days are up those games go kaput. If the free games are not time limited to the psn plus subscription people will be happier.

Unless the free content/games are lousy or if we already own the such content... then the content/games then it would be useless.

I like the idea of free content for us PSN users. However it would make more sense for them to add gift moneys only usable on PSN store and let us choose the content we would like instead of them choosing stuff we may or may not already have.

it just a trick to get people to buy content when they have the premium subscriptions so then they have to renew it in order to keep the content. in the end it benefits sony. I am disgusted at sony's business model

Games timeout when ping is greater than 30ms. There's currently no known way to modify that threshold, so for the majority of the world, Xlink Kai is a no-go. Also, it's a giant hassle, so yeah, there's that.

This is all a bit excessive, IMO. Sony have already offered to pay for the costs incurred by cancelling and recieving a new credit card for those who're directly affected by this. Otherwise, this good will gesture is unnecessary, because PSN is a free service and any financial harm has been compensated for.

My only issue with the downtime is that my PSP Go has been completely unuseable these past few weeks, because I accidentally formatted it while it was connected to my PC, and, well, you get where that goes...

How about this: instead just allow custom Firmwares to play online and that's it, probably no hacker will wanna hack Sony (or PSN) again. Look at Apple with the jailbreak, you would think they are loosing an unimaginable ammount of money because of Installous, but iTunes and Apple store are the BIGGEST virtual shops (or whatever it's named) on the world. Think about it.

No. I'm not satisfied. Everyone is getting the exact same compensation weather or not they had a cc attached or not. I feel it's a nice start, but as someone who had their cc attached I feel like Sony should be doing more for me and others in my position. Most users didn't have cc on their account and lucky them, but when someone who has their cc info taken gets the same compensation as one with the basic info you can get off Facebook, I call shenanigans.

Here's my opinion,(and opinions are like a$$holes, everybody has one), I understand that this is a big deal, but then again, it was your decision to join. Everybody gets hacked, that's the drawback of any online situation. But, I'm just getting tired of people wanting more, more, more! If you don't like it or agree with it, then go elsewhere. Again, it's your decision. Have a nice day!

unless i miss understood. even if we get ps+ for free. the things ps+ brings you still requires you to pay.
ps+ is a discount card for games. theres not to much good stuff on there that is free. unless sony changes that for a temp. time.

You get your choice of 2 out of a few crap-tier games that no one is buying.

Also you get 30 days of a useless service we can hardly sell and will probably begin giving away 30-day free trials for in the future anyways.

Sorry about that whole allowing your name, email, addr ess, phone, username, passwo rd to fall into criminal hands thing. We appreciate you, really... no seriously... we do...

Regards,

Sony

P.S. If the criminals decide to use your personal information to steal your identity after a year, you're on your own.
