Disadvantages: Cheats and Hackers Negatively Impact Multiplayer

Multiplayer online gaming is probably one of the greatest parts of recent console gaming. Thanks to a fast internet connection, we no longer have to wait for our friends to be around if we want to see how we stack up against the increased skill of human opponents. Depending on the kind of gamer you are, there are some that spend their time almost exclusively in multiplayer modes. They spend time honing their tactics, unlocking items and hitting the top of the leader boards. In extreme cases, some could even call these modes a way of life.

However, there's no denying that problems start to occur once cheaters step into online matches. After all, the basic notion of online is that it's supposed to provide the most stripped-down and human gaming experience possible, and that idea gets immediately ripped away when you start to see players with unlimited health quite literally flying around the entire map. Quite honestly, to the majority of players, using cheats online is just not a fair way to play. Sure, there might be doors open for designated "cheats only" matches, but those numbers are small when you consider the number of players that intend on using more traditional mechanics. When you give yourself an unfair advantage against hardcore players, the result is just not cool at all.

For hardcore players however, there is also the fact that cheats and hacks can also add replay value and experimentation to the games you love. Find out more by clicking onward!

As long as it is not used online/multiplayer, the player has the right to play the game however one wishes to.

In my opinion, cheating in competitive multiplayer is bad and cheating in a game about gameplay can ruin your experience.

However, some alterations aren't necessarily 'cheats', as they might actually make the game more difficult, fix bugs, make the game more balanced and fun to play, and change things aesthetically, rather than just give you an unfair advantage.

The latter, is good, in my opinion.

depends on the "cheat", but yeah, overall it's not a good thing.

If it is cheating in Multi player then it is wrong.
However when it comes to Single player then I have one thing to say about cheating....Shut up I do what I want with my Single Player experience.

I just like trolling people. I don't even really care or need cheats, but I love the sound when someone shouts into the microphone:

"GAAAAAAH **** YOU, YOU MISERABLE ****, ****ING CHEATING SON OF A *****! FIGHT ME IRL, I'LL ****ING KILL YOU"

To me, that makes cheating all the more worthwhile.

This AGAIN???

The general consensus last time was....online = no. Other then that = who cares! It's their game, they can do whatever they want.

Are you going to flip shit and cry if I go straight to the back of a book and read the ending?

Basically, mind your own damn business! Unless the player brings it online and makes it your business.

Easy cheating not only extends the life of a game but in most cases can be looked at as modding if i buy a car why shouldn't I be able to alter it in anyway. In phantasy star online it was cheating that lead to the games ultimate appeal and how I made the private server(first multi-console server ever) with my team. So you ask us is cheating fair, I will ask right back is it fair when they ban you for glitching when they are too lazy to patch it? or is it just ok to sell people cheats and advantages over other players because cheating with your credit card is still cheating, but with no skill or honour. The key to remember people is it is a game. By the time people have found any real cheats in games these copy paste companies are churning out a sequel

I use cheats to get past a hard spot then I TURN IT OFF! and try the rest myself, but if I die too much I need to rely on cheats, I just delete the rom file I was playing
