PoV: Can PS Vita lure mobile gamers? |

Certainly so, says Sony.
"When you look at the type of consumer that's playing cell phone games currently, it's someone that enjoys smaller "kill time" gaming and has not gravitated to the larger, richer, deeper experiences that true handheld gaming provides," notes John Koller, Sony's director of hardware marketing.
"We've certainly seen that on the PSP, and I know Nintendo has probably commented on it for their products, but as we go toward the PlayStation Vita, I can tell you that as we started looking at that product and the market opportunity several years ago, we saw a real strong demographic for those deeper, richer, console-type experiences. We had them on PSP, but we've taken them to a new level on PS Vita with the entirety of new ways to play.
Koller added that the PS Vita offers many different elements compared to tablets and smartphones.
"That "new ways to play" idea, particularly for Vita, really differentiates from what's available on mobile phones or tablets and, frankly, what will be available on those platforms over the next three to five years. You're going to see PS Vita expand what a lot of people believe to be true about handheld gaming, and you're going to see a lot of those current mobile phone and tablet gamers come over to Vita. We're very convinced of that," he insisted.
There's no doubt that PS Vita is a leap above other mobile devices in terms of its capabilities and overall appeal, but personally, I think Sony should not be worried about the mobile market as they are completely in opposite sides of the field. What they need to focus on right now is how to deliver quality titles on the device at launch, one that Nintendo failed to offer with the 3DS.

While I do like games like Angry Birds, I'd take a good Elder Scrolls or Final Fantasy over it without a thought.
Speaking of that...an Elder Scrolls game on the Vita would be epic.

And besides, AB is already on Sony Platforms

Pretty much hit the nail on the head there!
If your an AIR-HED!
Thats what mobile users are. U know of that generic stereotyping of Females with Half a brain Cell....well, thats what I see when I see those who are constantly transfixed on their mobile devices like it's their whole life's work, rolled into ONE!
Fine - fuk'em. They can become gormless/hapless Zombies, ruled by those pretty touchscreen icons and sliding menus.
But don't U fuking dare attempt to even compare the quality of software/coding for a mobile to a console/PC. Mobile apps/games are an amateurs playground.
I must admit that oneday 'Tablets' will be able to offer more higher quality software due to it's higher specs over Fones and ipods etc.
But yes, the Portable gaming (specific) systems like Sonys' and Nintendos' - are designed purely for games. And as such the developers are making these games with everything they have. As they know that if it's SHIT, it won't sell!
And there's alot more SHIT made for mobiles than there is for Portables. I think that should be the real camparison marker there. "MOBILES vs PORTABLES"
Because we all really crave for a horny portable version of an XBOX or a PLAYSTATION now don't we.
PS...all U morons who claim that U think U are getting a great deal by only having a single device that can do everything so U don't need anything else....what happens when your ALL-in-ONE breaksdown - your then left with nothin' at all. I have a smartfone for..........well... communication only, and games, PSP/DS/PSV(soon) LOL!!!!!!And I'm not a Yuppie either....I just know wotz wot - what!?

Why in the world would you want "thousands" of POC dollar games?
You guys are probably the ones who buy CoD, pay for 15 USD DLC, agree with online passes and the like.
I guess people want quantity rather than quality now a days. Casual gamers...

You don't seem to complain that consoles aren't house phones as well.
