The ESRB is taking on a new venture, employing a new system for rating downloadable games. Instead of sitting down and checking out the games one by one, they're now letting computers do their job.

Yes, you heard it right. Computers will be the one determining whether a game should be rated E (Everyone), T (Teen) or M (Mature).

Their reasoning behind this new system is simple: there's just too many online games being released on a daily basis that the board is just getting too overwhelmed attending to each.

Their new system would therefore employ a detailed digital questionnaire, which would then be filled up by the developers. It is important that they disclose everything, otherwise, they will incur a penalty.

The questions will aim to "gauge every subtle nuance of violence, sexuality, profanity, drug use, gambling and bodily function that could possibly offend anyone."

Each category is then broken down further into even more specific sub-categories. For example, offensive language is further elaborated into the following: minor profanities, epithets, scatological vulgaritise, racial obscenities, sexual vulgarisms, and that 3-letter word referring to a human anatomy.

Of course, there are questions about how much sex is present in the game. The bodily functions category then specifies if it's a "whimsical depiction of feces," and the "act of human (humanlike character) defecation visually depicted."

Curiously enough, though, the questionnaire does not inquire into religion slurs.
