PoV: April Fool's!

Gamers tend to be wary of news that come out on April 1st. We've been through so many elaborately staged April Fool's pranks from game companies and gaming news sites through the years to accept news items that come out on that day at face value.

While some eventually get annoyed by the sheer number of pranks and jokes that come out of the gaming industry on April Fool's day, there are still a few memorable ones that stick in our minds. For me, the most recently April Fool's prank that I loved was Blizzard's Terratron, the transforming Terran superunit made of the entire Terran base.

Another memorable yet not-so-recent one was the urban legend of Sheng Long, an April Fool's joke that EGM snuck into their magazine's April issue way back in 1992. I didn't get to hear about it until a couple of years later but stupid me didn't realize it was a gag until I had spent hours upon hours trying to unlock that bastard. Even my less-than-sub-par skills at Street Fighter didn't stop me from trying.

Personally, I look forward to these jokes whenever April gets near. Some have led to a lot of laughs, while some were just too outlandish to really believe. What about you?
