PoV: Pokemon Snap on 3DS would be awesome |
Listed in: Nintendo 3DS Tags: augmented reality, Nintendo, pokemon snap

Pokemon Snap was one of my most beloved Nintendo 64 titles. A new Pokemon Snap game for the Nintendo 3DS would be absoultely fantastic, and not just because of the 3D effect.
In the N64 version, players traveled on a rail through a variety of environments, taking pictures of Pokemon. There were tons of hidden Pokemon as well, as players were able to disrupt the environment in different ways to reveal bigger, less common Pokemon.
Pokemon Snap on Nintendo 3DS would be amazing for one simple reason: Augmented Reality.
If Pokemon Snap 3DS (a hypothetical name for a hypothetical game) was to make use of the handheld's Augmented Reality functions, players would be able to take pictures of Pokemon in their own household. Not only that, but since AR Games distorted a real environment so well, Nintendo could even have hidden Pokemon in certain areas.
Of course, this would be an incredibly ambitious project. Considering that Pokemon Snap hasn't seen a release since the N64 original, it's not very likely that Nintendo will be bringing this sub franchise back to life. Still, we can wish for it...
