PoV: Don't overreact about 3DS circle pad add-on |
Listed in: Nintendo 3DS Tags: Capcom, circle pad, Kojima Studios, monster hunter, Nintendo, perhipheral
Nintendo isn't doomed -- this is just another perhipheral to join their incredibly long list.

The Nintendo 3DS second circle pad add-on will release with Monster Hunter Tri G in Japan, and right now, that's the only game that uses the attachment.
I keep reading on websites and forums that Nintendo is doomed. How exactly? Nintendo 3DS sales have skyrocketed since the pricecut, and they still make a sizable profit on every unit.
What this attachment does is allows third parties, such as Kojima Studios, to add optional dual-pad support to their games. It also means that the inevitable 3DS redesign will probably feature a second pad built-in.
It's true that a second pad should have been on the system to begin with. But just like the Wii Balance Board, Wii Zapper, Mario Kart Wheel, and the many, many peripherals Nintendo has made, this is totally optional and likely won't be expensive.

MH3 will be only the first game to use, but after that all developers will want to use that, and a redesign will be imminent now that nintendo opened the pandoras box, why?, because a second stick is what developers want, simply as that, PSP was criticized since day one for having only one stick, and is easy to know why, this generation is full of FPS right now is the most used genre of all, if there is no second stick they are hard to control, there is a touchpad and it can be used but never will be the same as a cirlce pad/stick sony learned that why vita have two , even other genres use them as 3d action/adventure like MH3 using second stick for the camera is a standard, when Vita was shown it have a lot of things but the first and most important of the features people was interested was the second stick
is late to turn back, its pointless trying to convince people that only one game will use it blah blah, nintendo should have seen it coming when they designed 3ds but they are so full of themselves like they were in the n64 design to make a proper design, the probably said, "we will need touch pad for wario ware 3d and pokemon 3d will use the dpad as the others, nobody wants second stick because our games dont use it" now they are forced to show this add on to have proper ports and new games from popular genres that need the second stick, they are forced to do it
the only common sense thing that nintendo can do now is make a redesign ASAP and put that in the market before Christmas so less users get angry at them when most people buy one
the only common sense thing that you can do if you want a 3ds is wait for the redesign
and if you have one right now, with the price cut you wont be able to sell it and get back most of your money, so I recommend getting this thing when is cheaper it will be necessary and get the most from the "compensation"

Awesome that 3DS got a 2nd analogue but awful in terms of design.

This is probably just an add on for Monster Hunter Tri in the first place, it certainly looks like its being promoted as such.
Other Devs will just use it as an extra addition to games if they really find it necessary.
