PoV: 3DS games are too expensive

Analyst Billy Pidgeon was right in calling for a price drop on 3DS games.

"Lower 3DS hardware prices only address part of the problem. It's more important to sell more software as packaged goods and paid digital downloads to each customer who buys a hardware unit. I would like to see Nintendo cut the retail price of packaged software to a range of $20 to $25 for the 3DS. DS software should be $20 or less," Pidgeon had said.

He couldn't be more right. This is sort of a two-pronged problem. $40 for a 3DS game si far too much money, much like $60 for PS3 and Xbox 360 games is too expensive.

Not only that, but games on the eShop are crazy expensive. I don't mind spending $6 for The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX, but the problem is that DSiWare games are severely overpriced. Most games are in the $8 to $12 range, and very few are actually worth that price. Zenonia, a decent mobile RPG, is a mere $2 on the App Store. It's $8 on the eShop.

Do you think 3DS games -- and video games in generally -- are overpriced? Sound off in the comments section below and be sure to continue the discussion on our community forums.

A POV about an Analyst article? U-U-U-U-Useless Info Combo! Though I do agree the eshop is overpriced. Nintendo has already said their main competitor is Apple in the handheld market, so they better start acting like it.

They should write an article about the article Carl B. wrote an article about his point of view about an analyst's point of view about a company's best point of attack.

Yep. if they want to compete with the apple store then they should price the games to compete.
I've seen some FREE games in the app store and they are $12 in the eshop. LOL. I know which version I will be getting.

I have had my 3DS since June. I do not have a single 3DS game, only a few VC games and transfered DSi ware plus the 10 free NES games for Ambassadors. I just can't bring myself to buy a $40 game. The games that are out thus far don't interest me much anyways. Waiting for the 10 free GBA games.
What sucks though is that the VC games are even smaller than the already small touch screen. This bothers me a lot. Plus I can't handle the 3D on it so it's off permanently. I really like my DSi way better. A new DSi with improved graphics would rock. Oh well, I don't really like my 3DS. I loved all the previous Nintendo hand helds,

Too exspensive. Considering the limitations. If I buy a packaged game I can lend it to my friends or wife after completion and they can do the same with theirs. If I get completely tired of it one day I can sell it on ebay. With digital downloaded games that's it. Your lumped with it for good. They're going to have to lower the prices a lot lower if they want me to buy into this trend.
