PoV: Buttons are essential

Kinect

Apple has an entire market of touch screen only games and Microsoft is looking to move away from buttons with the Kincet, but buttons are essential for a complete gaming experience.

There are only a handful of games that control well with only a touch screen on the Apple App Store. Infinity Blade works well in using the touch screen for precise sword slashes, but the entire game is on rails. The only other games that work well are turn based strategy games and simulators. The few first person shooters on the App Store control absolutely terribly, and games where you actually have direct control over the character, such as Zenonia, control poorly with the virtual D-pad.

The Kinect won't have a large library of games that would work well on it, either. Right now it's flooded with mini games like Kinect Sports, and the list of future releases is slim. The tech may work for those types of games, but a title like Halo would never work on Kinect. How would players move their character? There isn't a joystick or d-pad for character movement, and the only way I can think of would be to run in place.

Most people don't understand that if microsoft wanted they could incorporate the kinect experience while the player also uses a controller therefore allowing other forms of controller but still allowing buttons...Its up to the imagination of the person to derive out of kinect.

Think about it, The move does the same thing Motion Gaming with Buttons, Microsoft can jsut add the normal Xbox360 controller everyones use to its possible!

Jump, Turn (Camera focuses on you no need for analog, Which could give a new type of aiming the ability to turn and aim anywhere you want???? Oooo Innovative), ability to aim without the use of analog just like the move?

Please don't be a douche if you just think a little possibilitys are endless.

Right! Unfortunately, if Microsoft allowed a game like that to be created, they would be liable if someone dropped or flung a controller...

Frankly i think that kinect is targeted for specific games, i dont think they really expect you to play halo without your normal controller, but you also wouldnt enjoy a dance game with a normal controller would you?

Kinect is for some games and controller for the rest.

And when you take away buttons, you're taking away from core gaming experience. Anyone like playing Street Fighter on the iPhone? Nope.

it's about the feedback you get when ever you do a motion, which you don't get from kinetic. that's why having buttons/controller is important

"but buttons are essential for a complete gaming experience."

Wrong. Buttons are essential for a SPECIFIC gaming experience. Touch gaming and button gaming are two different things. In fact, there are countless games on the DS that are touch only so what's next? The DS is a fake game console?

Just more people with their head up their rear end, hung up on the past and can't move forward.
