Are you going to take the bait?

Apple has change the gaming landscape, as they have managed to turn the App Store into a lucrative business, selling cheap or even free apps that is accessible to its consumers. But everything could change in the future as games are becoming more like their console counterparts.
Take Two boss Strauss Zelnick recently spoke to Forbes about the possibility of a US$ 20 – US$ 40 apps in the future, in which he replied: ”I don’t see why not. Tablets are ubiquitous. And tablets are a great game platform. And it’s the right sized screen. And you use the tablet to have an engaging experience. So if all of that’s true, I don’t see why we wouldn't be able to sell a robust product for the same price point. The reason the price point is currently lower for an iPhone app is it is used for five minutes, and not for a hundred hours.
“My take is that small screens will be used for a quick but interactive entertainment experience,” he continued. “Mid and large screes can be a robust and engaging entertainment experience. That’s how my kids play games. When they’re at home, they don’t really play games on their desktops or tablets. They play games on the projection TV.”
It's no surprised that many of the major game publishers and developers are now focusing their attention to the iOS platform. But paying for a US$ 40 app? No way. It's this kind of thinking that drives away consumers from major publishers.
What do you think folks? Is Zelnick's suggestion feasible? Are you willing to pay US$ 40 for an app? Share your thoughts below or continue the discussion at the forums.

But then again, piracy isn't an issue when a new Call of Duty comes out, it sells like hotcakes.
