Yes, 1989. Since we didn't say much about the game's premise except during the game's announcement and the gameplay vid we featured, we figured we'd visit a few sites to brush up on fictional World History 101. Seems like the USSR, in its end-of-Cold War death throes, decides to invade Europe and the USA to head off their impending downfall. Movie buffs will remember this as the premise for the movie Red Dawn - gamers will remember RA2. But no Tanya to ogle here, though.
The graphics here are most likely pre-renders (maybe even live-action), unlike the gameplay vid we featured last time (unless Sierra">Sierra tells us otherwise), but it's still as eye-popping as an invasion of the homeland is mind-blowing. But like we said, it's familiar territory to Red Alert fans. This real-time tactics title from Sierra and Massive Entertainment touches down 2nd quarter next year, along with half the Soviet Army. We'll see you on the battlefield, tovarishch.
