What does Deus Ex and Indie games have in common? Sheldon Pacotti. For those of you not in the know Sheldon Pacotti is the writer of the original Deus Ex games and an indie game developer.  But that’s not all he’s been up to. Recently Mr. Pacotti has been working on a project that aims at making games easer for novice developers to tell their stories.

Originaly created as a tool for his Video Game Writing course at the University of Texas, Game Blocks takes advantage of a snap-to interface that makes use of animations, physics and can be used to compile classic arcade style platform, adventure, and shooter  games. What makes this release such a big deal is that is completely open source and free.  So how’s that for a holiday present from Mr. Pacotti to anyone who wants to make their own games? I think its a pretty good present dont you?
