CryENGINE 3 Shows Off Some Skin |

The recent Crysis 3 announcement may have grabbed your attention but this shouldn't be overshadowed, as you’ll be entertained at the very least with this neat little video showing the latest update to CryENGINE 3, which gives the engine DirectX 11 support, more advanced tessellation and new lighting (shadows cast on particle clouds looked pretty neat).
The update itself is already available for developers, so it won’t be too long before we see these impressive improvements evident in games. What I particularly liked about the video was the human face. The skin and particularly the mouth looked pretty darn close to real, whereas the environments, no matter how technologically advanced and demanding they are, don’t quite have the same impact.
There are other improvements, which Crytek list out here, including improved glass rendering and geometric light beams.
Whether or not you’re interested in Crysis or Crytek, the video is worth a look, if not to at least see the rendering of skin and water.

But we've seen tech demos before. They mean nothing unless someone actually creates a game with them.
