Minecon 2011 - Celebrate the Minecraft Release

Though the release had to be pushed back from its initial date of November 11, Minecraft developers are doing all they can to make Minecon a special launch.

Minecon will be held at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. A Minecon ticket includes:

  • Access to the events on November 18th and 19th
  • A special scrolls alpha code
  • The cobalt game
  • A special Minecraft in-game cloak


Today is the last day that tickets can be booked at the early bird rate of $99.95, so get in fast via this link


The schedule for Minecon 2011 looks as follows:


Friday, November 18th

10 a.m. Game Room and Exhibit Hall Open

1 - 3 p.m. Keynote Address and Minecraft Launch with Notch

4 - 6:30 p.m. Breakout classes on your favorite Minecraft subjects

7 - 10 p.m. Miners' Party

11pm - 2 a.m. Diamond Party (Over 21)


Saturday, November 19th

10 a.m. Game Room and Exhibit Hall Open

10 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Breakout classes on your favorite Minecraft subjects 

4 - 6:00 p.m. Closing Ceremony Celebration 

10 p.m. - 1 a.m. Diamond Party (Over 21)


There will also be a whole host of other things going on during Minecraft 2011 with plans for:
Build contests

  • Autograph and Picture Time with the Mojang Team & Top Minecraft YouTubers
  • Costume contests
  • Exhibits by leading gaming and Minecraft related companies
  • Meeting friends from around the world
  • Commemorative merchandise
  • Indie Developer Theater

 

Great to see other developers (even Indie ones) taking the time out to celebrate their game (thanks Blizzcon, Quakecon, etc for showing the way) and give the fans a special gift of two.
