Witcher 2: Steam sales is king |

The Witcher 2 had a strong following and sequel and a worthwhile form of distribution with spreading itself between GOG.com and Steam and Direct2Drive and Impulse and GamersGate, which added up to two hundred and fifty thousand copies, which is pretty good. But when it's broken down, D2D, GG and Impulse all provided ten thousand of the copies, Good Old Games, forty thousand and then Steam had two hundred thousand copies, all during the same time period.
GoG director Guillaume Rambourg examined the stats to make the point that when DRM is used sales start spinning down the tube. Good Old Games was able to sell four times as much compared to the three other distributors due to their different DRM policy. The famous quote of the week being " Your Custoemrs Hate DRM", with Rambourg expanding that DRM makes companies feel safe and in control with protecting their product and sales, but the reality of the games market is very different.
The reality, according to Rambourg is that DRM doesn't protect their content, and if it does, it doesn't work for more than a few hours because more often than not DRM is harming the producers, developers and game industry in the long run. Rambourg could not be more honest and diligent in his words as he plans on working with more developers on GoG to strike a proper deal and meeting about what the answer is. I think it is honesty, creativity and sadly, marketing.
