For fans of the series, disappointment is abound, thanks to the highly credible rumours that Frank West will not be returning in Dead Rising 3.

At least initially anyway.

Like other recent DR titles, you will likely be able to purchase some form of DLC that will provide you with your Mr West experience.

In DR3 you will play as Rick.

Rick is a Mechanic.

Rick likes to fix things and hack up zombies in his spare time. He enjoys long walks in bloody malls filled with flesh eating zombies who want nothing but your brains.

Ok, I got lost a little bit.

Because we don't have any in-game shots of DR3 to date, here is a picture of what Google thinks Californian Zombies look like.

Doesn't look SO bad really?! (The above shot is from a Web Series call California Zombies, check it out at http://californiazombies.blogspot.com/)

Rick takes over from Frank West in the similar way that Chuck Greene did in DR2.

One of the overarching goals of DR3 will be to fix an aeroplane that is designed to carry you, and a few other random survivors of the zombie outbreak in Los Perdidos, California (fictional place, in case you are trying to Google Maps this like I did) to safety.

There are a few other unconfirmed rumours for DR3 that could likely be cleared up at the incoming Video Game Awards that will take place on December 10th, most notably:

  • There will be a biker gang with a bike/steam roller hybrid;
  • The inclusion of a guy named 'Red' who could be some sort of illegal immigrant zombie.

We hope to find out more soon on the exact release dates, amongst other gameplay details.

Are you excited for more zombie killing? We are!

I am psyched for anything Dead Rising. I love these games and I'm hoping for some good co-op!

The co-op features are definitely pretty good in DR

Rick the Mechanic. I like that, has a nice ring to it! I can see the advertising promotions now:

"Help Rick the Mechanic fix the zombies faces .. with a WRENCH"

"Run, Rick, Run! With a chainsaw! Through a crowd of zombies!"

"Join Rick the Mechanic as he shows us how to install flamethrowers on cars, part of your daily zombie defense lesson!"
