Review: Prelude to the Chambered

So you may have heard that everyone's favourite little indie dev was creating a new game and doing it as apart of a contest. Well, it's pretty good to say the least. It's called Prelude to the Chambered. It's a fun little dungeon crawler with monsters, power gloves and big balls...yeah, that's about right.

The game feels like a first person version of Pokémon walking through the dungeon levels finding little beasties who will attack you. So far, playing about and hour or so but the cleverly chosen items, level design and different settings have been really fun to just get through, it reminds you of the classic kind of gameplay of find key, get new area, get new weapon, get new beast to fight.

The kind of progression that overpowered games seem to be lacking a bit. It reminds me a bit of an adventure game without a real story. The fun is still there and I'm intrigued simply by the next item as I am of the next open ladder. The game would have been fairly interesting with even just a single bit of text about your character, but not necessary. Notch has really shown what he can do with his 'spare time'.

I probably won't post much more today with this game (and a few other things) taking up most of my time. I do hope you'll check it out and that I wish Notch the best of luck.
