Monsters Profile: Silverfall |
Ó
That's why today, we'll be giving you an inside look at the monsters that will make your journey a tad harder in this game. Now, although European gamers already have a headstart since it's been released there since October of last year, this preview will work for American ones as it won't be here 'til March 6th. Anyway, check out the monsters profile.
The Ice Monster. This is an "Ice Elemental". If you can intelligently believe in this legend's existence, then you are one of the rare few. Their origin remains to be an elusive mystery, although they are known to thrive in the bowels of the frozen hills, where the crystal coals lay.
Wheeled goblins love technology. Obsessed with 'internal' innovations, they would go as far as mutilating themselves just so they could be in on what's the latest. Their thinking is that by "tweaking" with themselves, they are boosting their physical capacity while at the same time enjoying their craft. Terrible is how their helix grasp is described. Their wheels aren't what you'd call friendly, either.
Ghouls can be likened to zombies. Dead living creatures they are. Like spirits that have yet to transcend to the Light, they roam the earth from the moment of their death. Their bodies, possessed by the energy of the negative universe and decomposing, undergo serious mutations. Don't discount their muscles that are torn and withering away. That is certainly no indication of their strength.
Deformed gnomes, some people say they are. But Guekheness are actually more likened to evolved insects. Humanoid insects with chitin characteristics to be more precise. And they actually have intelligence. So, winged as they may be, it would be wise for you to not think of them as bug-brained.
Zombie Dwarves are sent by the Death Shadow. You would want to keep your distance from its barbed tail. Even the toughest of armors or breastplates are no match for the lethal blow it strikes. Undead dwarves are usually accompanied by undead Trolls. But why not? Same species usually go together, after all.
Prince Dalaen. He is of Elf origin, of noble origin. But as with most who falls victim to greed, he made a pact with evil incarnate, trading in his wisdom and sophistication for physical and mental strength. He isn't exactly sociable. In fact, his "hate of others runs deep". Hope that he doesn't zoom in on you as his prey for he is most unkind. The reinforced talons of his giant eagle are more than just aesthetics. We're sure you're getting the picture now of how unkind he can be.
Necroraiders are mixers. Of necromantic magic and technology, that is. They also indulge in piracy, and while they do create new, impossible and highly unnatural beings, their practices are rarely tolerated. Be careful what they come up with if and when you do meet one.
The Flying Necroraider has no relation to the previous Necroraider. This kind has got reptilian wings attached to an otherwise skeletal body. His sword is exceptionally sharp so it would be best for you to beware of it, unless you want to be disemboweled in a single blow.
The Qje-shi are giant root-serpents. For their survival, they fertilize the ground. When they do come out, they are strong enough to not only break the grounds, but rocks as well. It would do you good to be well aware on your toes, figuratively and literally, especially if you are not exactly sure of how to detect their presence. Oh, and there's more than just one kind out there. Yikes.
These are true combatants right here. Werebeasts, they are named. That's because they are not limited to just morphing into a werewolf. From rat to lion, to panther to wolf, they sure are masters of transfiguration. And strong they are, too, regardless of what form they turn into.
We told you it's a nature vs. science debacle here at Silverfall. And like a spurned lover, Lionroots are "vengeful incarnations of magic forests which have been abused by the followers of science." And they're out to get those who have done them wrong. Nature destroyers are on top of their hitlist. Their features are like a lion's, and they are covered with a shell made up of gnarled roots. Oh, and there are those two roots and a shell extended in long steel tusks.
Last but definitely not least, the Mechanical Dragon. They are characterized as "technology-leaning goblins". How mechanical are they? Check out their stats: two speeds, three valves, next-gen coal motor, 37-caliber flame cannon, spare wheel. Oh, and as it is a dragon, it does breathe fire, too. Suave, huh?Via IGN
