AMD and Crystal Dynamics Advancing PC Gaming Realism |

Since the first 3D rendered games came out oh so long ago we have seen the quality of game play and the graphics get better and better with every release and every new piece of hardware. Developers have spent years making weapons, environments, and characters look and move more realistically but one thing that has always been a hit or miss and has never been quite right… hair.

Now I know it doesn’t seem like that big of a deal but let’s just take a second to think about it. Every character in every game has suffered from either flat or matted low quality and high sharpie hair and it looks just plain awkward on otherwise beautiful and wonderfully rendered characters. AMD Gaming Evolved and Crystal Dynamics have paired up to solve this issue once and for all in the upcoming release of TOMB RAIDER on March 5th.

Together AMD Gaming Evolved and Crystal Dynamics have produced the world’s first real-time hair lighting and physics system in a playable PC game “TressFX Hair”. TressFX is ground breaking in the field of realism as it allows for tens of thousands of individual strands, each of which casts its own shadows to be rendered and synchronized with the motion of Lara as she moves. This allows for the most realistic and detailed gaming experience possible.

AMD is shit. Sony was a damn fool for not going with Nvidia however I don't blame them too much with Nvidia getting into he handheld market. The last thing we need is another Apple versus Samsung shit fest.
