Witcher 2 Patch update 1.1 and Helpful Hints. |
Listed in: Patches Tags: dlc, witcher 2
DLC dramas, keymapping kerfuffles, mouse inversion and problems with code activation. Just some of the problems that users are facing with Witcher 2. Of course, not everything is bad, for many of us the game is a (mostly) seamless experience and a great one at that, but the folks over at CDProjekt are already planning to release their first patch to rectify issues inhibiting the title. You can check it out over at their blog.
It's a common occurence in the modern PC release schedule. With a plethora of user configurations, and the ever present piracy issue and how to best combat it without harming the honest customer (see DRM) early patching has become the norm. The Witcher community blog also offers a hatful of hints to get the game running smooth and sweet on your rig, which we've linked below, for your benefit, cause we're nice like that.

and absolute MUST PLAY title!
however there are a few issues listed below in order of 'game impact':
1. Mouse 'disabled' randomly during combat.... ie no mouse look and can't attack. for some this is rare... other frequent. needless to say this can make even simple battles very frustrating. I have found that pressing 'r' to throw (daggers and bombs) causes this at random. (tip: save and save often)
1. Not all keys can be mapped in-game.
(you can manually map all functions by modifying the user.ini file in MyDocuments/Witcher 2)
3. Desperately needs a better tutorial!
this game is complex and full depth...
tutorial is minimal and on-screen 'help' popups disappear tooooo quickly. (tip: either keep the hard copy of manual handy or bringing up the 'quest' screen there is an in-game manual that keeps an ever growing list all added functions and abilities)
