Square Enix suffered in bleak 2010 market |

I'm sure more than a few of us have played a Square Enix game. Whether it was over a decade ago with the nostalgia oozing Final Fantasy 7 or one of the more recent classics such as The World Ends With You, however the recent financial crisis and a few other new factors in video gaming have put the gaming company in an uncertain future.
For the last financial year, ending June 2011, the company made just over 24 thousand Yen, or 312.4 million US, this however was down from last year's profit of over 32 thousand. With over a 6 thousand or a few million lost in the process, some analysts are trying to see where it all went.
In the digital distribution side of the company, the revenue was down significantly with almost 30% disappearing. Japan has a fairly strong internet-based culture, so whether or not it was the game company or their content is still being looked at.
Yoichi Wada, CEO for Square Enix's Japanese division, said that "in a quarter without any major title releases, our group's sales and profit were lower compared to [last year]". The release schedule for the next 8 months for Squenix are quite interesting and busy, so let's hope they will pick up the pace with some new platforms and new games.
I'm wondering how iPad's sell over there. I'm aware of the very anti-XBox culture the country has, even though there is a large amount of RPG's on the system...of course, that's just me being playfully racist.
