Windows VistaWith Windows Vista all set to swing into hard drives the world over in January 2007, gamers have been plagued with concerns on how Microsoft's new OS will be affecting their gaming experiences. In response to that, we ran an article detailing how certain games released from 2000 to 2005 fared under Vista.

In his article "Gaming Post-Vista: Myths and Realities," Ten Ton Hammer's Jeff "Ethec" Woleslagle dishes out a few answers to some of the questions that are no doubt in the minds of gamers contemplating the effects that the new OS will have on their gaming lives. While the answers aren't technical (so says the author himself), they are based on sound logic and good thinking.

One of the myths debunked by Woleslagle is the one that says gamers will have to upgrade to Vista in order to play games that are released post-Vista. Woleslagle does a Weezer on this one and says it ain't so, saying that "how a game works in WinXP and/or Vista is entirely up to the game's developers." A move like this would cut heavily into the profits of game developers, so we also think that this myth is entirely mythical.

In his article, Woleslagle also takes some time out to say his piece on the realities that Vista will bring to the gaming community, including the much-talked about Direct X 10 issue. We heartily recommend reading through the whole thing, and to do that just click on the 'Full Article' link below. If you guys have any opinions or thoughts regarding this piece, don't hesitate to leave a comment.
