RIP, Andrei - Image 1Andrei Smirnov, 10, jumped from the 19th floor of his apartment in Moscow after his parents decided to ban him from playing video games on his PC for bad conduct and poor school performance. Andrei's parents dropped the hammer when the boy's teacher revealed what he's been doing in school, reports Komsomolskaya Pravda tabloid.

Andrei tried to remove bad records on his name from the school diary written by his teacher, but his plan to prevent his folks from catching word of his undesirable attitude wasn't very successful. His parents wanted the computer to be off-limits after they discovered what he did, which led him to commit suicide.

On a more disheartening note, Director of Centre for Legal Psychological Assistance Mikhail Vinogradov believes children banned from playing video games could resolve to suicide since they don't know what consequences await.

Our condolences go to Andrei's family, with prayers hoping such tragedy doesn't happen again.

As mohaas said, Its hard to believe this was based completely on the ban.
