DNFA new year is here, and gamers, as well as the whole videogame industry, is looking forward to another year of new games, new hardware, and the continued promise of Duke Nukem Forever.

Yes folks, it's 2007 and there's still nothing concrete regarding the release date of the fourth installment in 3DRealms's FPS series. A few more months and it will have been in development for ten years. Rumors have had it ported to the Xbox 360, souped up for Windows Vista users, and whatnot, but everything's still up in the air when it comes to this game.

Things have even progressed to the point that it's become the veritable poster-game for Wired's Vaporware Awards. On a semi-related note, another Vaporware Awards perennial - S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl - has been given a release date, but whether or not that comes to pass is something that we'll have to talk about some other time.

Anyway, to usher in the new year, we thought about bringing you guys a nice little retrospective on Duke Nukem Forever. Since the amount of info we have about this game wouldn't even fill my trusty old Enix (yes, there was a time when there was no Square-Enix) coffee mug, we'll instead be offering up this nice little list of the things that have happened since Duke Nukem Forever was announced way back in 1997.

The list contains quite a few popular games and consoles that have been released in the years since the 4th Duke Nukem game was revealed and some other fun facts. My personal favorite is the "Things that have taken less time than Duke Nukem Forever's Development" part, which includes the United States' entire program to put a man on the moon (from Kennedy's challenge to the landing) and World War II and the entire Manhattan Project.

Check it out. Click on the "Read" link below. It'll kill some time while we wait and you're bound to pick up a few interesting factoids along the way.

God, thats a TON of things about Duke Nukem Forever. I never knew Preparation for the moon landing took less than 10 years. Though the title might give us a clue of how long we're gonna wait until we finally see this game:

FOREVER!
