War Z Launches, Customers Still Pissed |

Let’s just get this out of the way: The War Z sure looks like a blatant rip-off of Day Z. And while its developers claim it was in development before Day Z became a ridiculous success, nothing we’ve seen out of The War Z so far indicates that it has even an inkling of an original idea in its code.

But that’s just the bigger picture. Here’s the nitty-gritty: The War Z officially launched today, and purchasers are complaining that the game isn’t even the shitty DayZ clone it claims to be. Here’s a gathering of comments courtesy of Reddit, which break down the features the game lists on its Steam profile:
- On the game’s “huge persistent” world: There is one 72 square km map
- On the game’s private servers: There are none
- On the game’s “dozens” of available skills: There are none
- On the game’s “hardcore” mode: Does not exist
- On the game’s “100 player” server max: Actually 50
Of course, the game is still in alpha/beta (which isn’t mentioned on its sales page), so any of the above stuff could get better. It just seems a little…dishonest.
Anyway, the game is currently in the top sales slot on Steam, so maybe players are liking what they find after all.
