With their new title War of the Roses based on the actual historical bloodbath between the houses of Lancaster and York, players will have a chance to take on this epic battle on their own terms.

As is appropriate for the focus of the game, there will be two separate options for early adopters to choose from called the House of York Edition, and the House of Lancaster Edition. Depending  on which version you decide to buy, the house to which your version is named will receive several exclusive items to help them along in their quest. Such add-ons include (but are not limited to) a royal helm, charge, and sword and crest.

However, the differences also become apparent with digital distribution as well. If you're a Lancaster fan, you will only find that version of the game on Steam. The York version however can be located on Gamestop, Gamers Gate, and more. In a sense, the developers want you to buy the game based on the particular house you favor the most, a clever marketing strategy. As of right now, the game is expected to charge its way on to digital and retail venues on October 2nd.
