Valve Pumping Out A Film? |
Listed in: News Tags: brown bag films, deep, half life, valve
If Valve makes a big announcement, is has to be Half Life 3. If they release a trailer, it has to be Half Life 3. And if they announce they’re making a film, surely it has to be Half Life 3.
Of course, none of those are true, although they licensing its intellectual property to do a sci-fi film. The company’s Source engine is going to be used to help animate Deep, a futuristic post-World War III film about mankind’s struggle at the bottom of the ocean.

The film has a modest budget by today’s standards, at $19 million, and so it needs some help in the video effects and animation department. Valve already have a working relationship with Brown Bag Films, the studio making the film, so they’re a good choice to help out.
Hopefully the more they work on films, the more comfortable they’ll get with it; I really want a L4D film that isn’t that one.
