Valve announces the rise of Steam Cloud |
Ó
Can we get a "hell yeah!" for the power of convenient computing? Valve has announced a new add-on of sorts to the Steam digital distribution service which will allow users to play any game in their respective Steam libraries, saves, key bindings and all, direct from any computer.
The support service, known as Steam Cloud, will automatically store all your game data, including saved games, key bindings, and option settings, to back-end servers, which will be accessible from any PC. The service is free and, as you can probably guess, totally awesome.
The first set of games getting Steam Cloud support will be the Half-Life series, Counterstrike, Team Fortress 2, and the upcoming Left 4 Dead. Steam Cloud will also be made available as part of the Steamworks set of developer tools.
