Valve’s Greenlight Program Now has an Entry Fee |
Listed in: News Tags: childs play, greenlight, Steam, valve
In theory, Steam Greenlight is an amazing idea. It gives developers a chance to have their games seen by the public, and it gives gamers the opportunity to push the stuff they like through to the Steam service. But, of course, this is the Internet, where no good idea goes unpunished.

Since its initial rollout last week, Greenlight has been plagued with racist sludge, fake titles, troll posts and other nonsense. This massive amount of garbage makes it nearly impossible to navigate the service and find games with potential, so Valve has come up with a simple solution for separating some of the wheat from the chaff: a $100 entry fee.
The money, which will be donated in its entirety to Child’s Play, is intended to decrease the number of joke and fake posts submitted to Greenlight.
Greenlight still has a few problems, but hopefully the $100 entry will put an end to some of the ridiculous bullshit that’s been happening on the service over the last few days.
What are your thoughts on Greenlight?
