Unreal Engine tech dissected by Epic |

Hold that thought, though. Just because he made use of the word "next-gen" doesn't mean it will be coming to next-gen consoles. If anything, there's one point that should come across to you crystal clear from all the things he made mention of. That is, if you want it, you're going to have to catch it on the PC. And other Apple gadgets. No console love from Unreal 3 yet still.
In a capsule, the demo started off with a bang. Actually, with splatters of rain, to be more specific about it. The droplets were "powered by Unreal technology, so said the brightly flashing neon lights amidst the dark environment.

It was an imagery for what Epic Games supopsedly is proposing for how the next generation of gaming should be. Said he, "The whole idea behind this is to tell the hardware manufacturers that this is what you should be doing down the road."
Continuing on with the demo, and showing off some more of the good stuff, Rein then adds some more details about the technology. "Another thing that's awesome is that the engine now scales all the way from an iPhone 3GS up to next-generation hardware. That means you could theoretically make a game that'd run on every single one of these devices. Mobile phones to tables to set top boxes."

That's not the best part about it, though, no, siree. What's great about all of this is that these beautiful things wrapped in the Unreal Engine 3 package are actually now with the licensees. Yes, Unreal Engine 3 has been duly distributed to them. What this means simply is that they'll definitely up to speed everytime Epic makes and update. And then from there, a definite domino reaction should take place.
While many remain skeptical about the "next-gen" of consoles at this point, Rein made it clear that he believes otherwise. "If the next game consoles can't do this, well, Apple increased their iPad by nine times today."
Well played, Mark Rein.
