Ubisoft is re-releasing their old games for 1 pound! - Image 1What can you buy for £1 (US$ 2)? Not a lot with today's prices, but Ubisoft is looking to break that concept by re-releasing some of their old PC games such as Rayman 2: The Great Escape, Brothers In Arms: Road To Hill 30, and Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time at that price. Why would they do something like that?

The word on the street is, it's because of Microsoft Vista. ChartTrack analyst Adam Davis, on the other hand, has his theories, saying that,

If I were a major games label and owned back catalogue titles that wouldn't work with Vista, I'd be asking retailers if they would be interested in a similar deal. With Vista becoming more and more popular, publishers have a window to make the most of their back catalogue on PC. The Ubisoft titles are all recognisable franchises, and I imagine that other publishers will also capitalise by using brands that gamers know.

So far, Ubisoft has not yet officially released any statement on why they have done this, but it's expected that gaming companies will be taking notice of their low budget re-launch of games, and would most likely follow suit. Will this become a trend? ChartTrack seems to think so, and we'll be waiting (and hoping) to see if their prediction comes true.
