Ubisoft offered no-CD circumvention for Rainbow Six Vegas 2, taken from RELOADED |
Ó
Straight from the streams on the Internet, we have learned that Ubisoft Support's solution to the issues of the Direct2Drive version of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 was copy protection circumvention by way of a no-CD/DVD crack.
And according to first-hand accounts, the no-CD/DVD crack was actually a replica of RELOADED's no-CD crack for the same game and was allegedly taken as their own. Ubisoft retracted the file from their downloads and issued an official statement, saying:
We're looking into this further as this was not the UK Support team that posted this, however if it is an executable that does not need the disc I doubt it has come from an external source.
Unfortunately for Ubisoft, the executable was looked into via a HEX editor, and it carried the digital (unauthorized) encode of RELOADED's signature. This proved that the file did come from an external source.
And not only wasn't internally made, it was an exact copy of another group's work. Nevertheless, Ubisoft closed the discussion thread where the issue was raised and a community manager added:
The file was removed from the site over a week ago now and the matter is being thoroughly investigated by senior tech support managers here at Ubisoft. Needless to say we do not support or condone copy protection circumvention methods like this and this particular incident is in direct conflict with Ubisoft's policies.
But after all is said and done, the damage has been dealt. Oh what is Ubisoft to do now?

i hate to say it... but reloaded is one of my favorite suppliers. lol they just pump warez out their asses! i wuv reloaded!
we all wuv dem! This is all ubisofts own fault anyway. Plus if it works then screw them...I still get no-cd cracks for games that I legally buy - mostly just because I don't like keeping the disc in the drive and probably a little because I like feeling a little rebellious.
i also do that with all my games, or i download the full game to "try" it out... lol if i LOVE it i will buy it to support it. if i am meh i will just keep the download for when i am bored. and if i am like EW JESUS WTFISTHIS*****? then i will delete it. lol
