Conference attendees of this year's QuakeCon can finally get there hands on the first public showing of long awaited return of the sci-fi, online multi-player shooter, Tribes: Ascend. Hi-Rez Studios today announced that Tribes: Ascend will be featured next month's QuakeCon and will be playable for the public for the first time at the annual gaming convention.
“QuakeCon has been called the Woodstock of gaming and we're thrilled to introduce Tribes: Ascend at this show”, says Todd Harris, Hi-Rez Studios COO. "QuakeCon has always delivered exceptional, competitive multiplayer gaming... for free; and that’s our mission with Tribes: Ascend.”
Those who will attend the event can look for Booth 333 of QuakeCon, held in Dallas, Texas from August 4th-7th 2011 to try out the game. Attendees can also register to win a limited number of keys to the Tribes: Ascend Closed Beta.
Revealed earlier this year, Tribes: Ascend is a "new generation of the online multiplayer shooter" which incorporates the classic Tribes elements such as fast-paced jetpack enabled combat, skiing, and vehicles, combined with teamwork and strategy. The free-to-play shooter is slated to arrive later this year for Windows PC and Xbox 360.
