Torchlight II: One Million Sold |

Have you played Torchlight II? It’s your typical dungeon crawler in the Diablo style, but it also somehow manages to be more fun, more rewarding and more interesting than its competitors. Something about the way the game looks and plays just clicks, and it’s awesome. At least, that’s my two cents.
It would appear that I’m not alone in my fond opinion of Torchlight II—Runic Games has just announced that the title has sold over a million copies since launch. Not too shabby for the follow-up to a relatively small game from a small studio, even if its staffed by a bunch of Diablo veterans.

Of course, when you dissect the game it’s easy to see the success: Runic built a great game, with great content and great art direction, then priced it fairly and communicated well with its community. There may have been (slightly) better games available in 2012, but very few launched at a $20 price point.
Anyway, congratulations to the Runic Games team. And if you haven’t picked up Torchlight II yet, it’s currently on Steam sale.
Whee!
