THQ: Homefront sold 375,000 copies on day one

THQ's stocks took a tumble after Homefront failed to reach a high enough score on Metacritic. Sales numbers released by the publisher, however, seem to point to a better future for the game.

According to a press release from THQ, the Kaos Studios-developed first-person shooter managed to rack up sales of approximately 375,000 units within 24 hours of launch in North America. Numbers from Europe and other territories were not included in the press release as the game has yet to be fully released worldwide.

"We are delighted with first day sales for Homefront and are already fulfilling re-orders for the game from multiple retailers," said Brian Farrell, THQ President and CEO.

Danny Bilson, THQ's executive vice president of core games, also revealed that they will be continue to add dedicated server capacity for Homefront due to "strong and growing demand " for the game's multiplayer component.

"We are confident that the large-scale multiplayer maps featuring 32 players, vehicles, infantry and drones, will continue to be a major draw for the huge audience of FPS gamers looking for a new experience over the coming months," he added.

To be honest, Karl, the online experience is not bad, but the game is not to be praised about gameplay of technically speaking. You can feel its a failed attempt to imitate call of duty, but certainly, homefront multiplayer is much better than medal of honor. Unfortunatelly textures are terrible, chatacter's facial expressions are bad implemented, and the campaign is very short. Another factor that will cap the success of this game is the online pass. EA is so smart in his effort to create the ultimate cod killer...did they know that cod games can use multiplayer everywhere? As a gamer I wont pay another fee for online play... The only game i will gladly buy will be crysis 2. No more online pass games
