There was a lot of hype and demand surrounding the release of the Star Wars MMO The Old Republic, with pre-orders even getting to play the game early, demonstrating the popularity of the game. The hype didn't go in vein though, as over 60 million game hours have been logged so far, which is the equivalent of watching the entire Star Wars saga (The 6 films) over 4 million times.

With over 3 billion NPC’s killed, the stats are proving to be pretty amazing for a game barely released. Not a huge Star Wars fan myself, but still fond of the series, I think these figures alone just may push me into buying this one, as I haven’t heard any bad reviews from any friends who are playing it just yet.

I don’t know exactly what it is that they’re doing right, but here’s hoping Square Enix will take a few tips for the future.
