Take On Helicopters takes on Piracy |

Bohemia games who I talked to earlier in the year about their game ARMA II being used as footage for a terrorism documentary, have recently come out and busted someone who pirated their game just days after it's release. Someone on their forums sparked up a thread claiming the games "crappy visuals" seemed to get "worse and worse" but as it turned out the developers had in fact put a series of code in the game that on pirated or cracked versions of the game, the image of the game would fade and degrade the further you played.
The FADE DRM was tested out back in Operation Flashpoint back in 2001, it has been evolving ever since. Bohemia Software may be a little guy but they still have heart and intelligence on their side, even when it comes to dealing with "freeloaders", as they call them.
Bohemia have used heaps of different anti-piracy methods but the one they made themseleves has been most effective, especially when "morphed image degradation" is one of the symptoms, it leaves quite a watermark for the industry. It reminds me of the Arkham Asylum piracy measure which would cause certain elements of Batman's actions to stop working during some parts of the game and eventually crash.
Bohemia have said they will be releasing a demo of Take On Helicopters in the near future. For anyone who wants to try before they buy.
