Valve, an online social gaming company with its outfit Steam, is forming Steam For Schools, a freeware program designed for teachers to utilize in the classroom.

This particular version will only feature the educational components; all other features and elements have been made unavailable just In case some students want to go astray from the learning plan.
Launching with Steam For Schools are the popular games Portal One and Portal Two, featuring a 3d environment riddled with complex puzzles for the user to solve. Physics are major factor in the outcome of the puzzle solving as gamers will have to interact with walls, ceilings and floors and an array of other objects in a precise manner, to advance.
Along the way, students’ math skills such as parabolas, volume and even statistics as well as good old fashioned reasoning and common sense will be honed in their quest to become master of the maze. But it is all academics, Portal One and Portal Two will treat students with an interactive setting with their decisions influencing the outcome of the game.
