Starcraft player charged for raging, stabbing girl |
We've all had our moments of gamer rage -- times when we just want to break stuff due to frustration with out shared hobby of controlling moving pixels on a screen. One StarCraft fan, however, has been reported to have taken gamer rage to a whole new, more lethal level.
Over in Sweden, an 18-year-old gamer apparently got so pissed when he lost his internet connection during a StarCraft game that he picked up a kitchen knife, went out on the street, and stabbed the first person he saw.
This person turned out to be a 15-year-old girl, who subsequently suffered multiple stab wounds. Luckily, the girl survived. The attacker has since been charged with attempted manslaughter due to a "psychiatric component" (the attack took place in August), although the prosecutor wanted him to be tried for attempted murder instead.
It should be noted that the original source apparently is characterizing this report as another instance of games turning kids into stab-happy psychos. Also, a gamer raging so hard that it causes him to grab a knife and just stab someone just seems a bit too farfetched to me. Then again, I tend to think the best of people at all times. Any thoughts?

I once smashed my PS2 controller on the floor because I failed at GTA San Andreas. it was totally broken. The Shoulder buttons were out and the analog stick was broken. The hardest 50 bucks of my life. I bought a TV for 400 back then tube TVs were still normal. It broke shortly after because it was very old, but I was more pissed about that controller because I knew it was my own fault.

what about breaking Mouses or spliting Keyboard apart , i did it many time when i was a noob in fps games , but now i wan play with one hand .
what i want to say is that boy is a noob a kid who spend his time playing video games without goal or learning , bcz VG are for FUN and player should accept loosing since he trust in him self .
But i did it with the PS3 controller. I felt guility afterwards. Killed a innocent controller.

Most the time knife crime does get related to games. But by playing GTA IV wouldn't you learn that after killing someone your wanted level goes up and you get "hunted down" by police with guns.
My little brother almost did the same to me.
Got myself several slash wounds from a kitchen knife and survived by using self-defense.
He got a broken leg and grounded for life in playing warcraft 3 via gg arena. Lol.
It's not cool to think that some gamers goes into some kind of "steroidal rage" if they lose a game. Geez...
