StarCraft II: Enter the Zerg's Baneling |
Ó
Those who have been following coverage of Blizzard's upcoming RTS StarCraft II would know that the Zerg have changed (quite literally) since the events of the Brood War. The Zerg have evolved during the StarCraft universe's relative calm period-slash-arms race. We'll be meeting the Zerg's new unit today: the Baneling.
The Baneling is a new mutation of the Zergling, and looks like an... overgrown tick. It's bloated with explosive chemicals and can't walk so they basically roll to get to places. Their purpose in StarCraft II's battlefields are simple: They go kamikaze (read: suicide bombs) on the Zerg's enemies. Take note that they are highly effective against ground forces and buildings.
We're sure some of you are already formulating some tactics with the baneling but you haven't heard anything yet. Aside from rushing the enemy with swarms of rolling bombs, you can also use them as traps since banelings can also burrow.
Stay tuned as we'll bring you more StarCraft II goodness when they become available.
