STALKER creators respond to DRM claim |

Reported on the weekend was the incredibly ballsy move STALKER 2 was gonna be set down the path, what I thought, only scaredy game companies go down. GSC, you used to be cool....oh...wait...you are still cool. Nevermind.
GSC informed everyone via Twitter and a Press Release that DRM is a choice and not a definite position:
“The idea of implementing DRM came in as a possible anti-piracy solution. You know the severe level of commercial piracy we have here in ex-USSR region. This said however, there is no firm decision to go for DRM with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 as of now. Be assured, we do realize how uncomfortable this solution is for the players, so we’ll continue looking for most effective, yet acceptable for all, way of protecting the game by the time of its release.”
The original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. was a piece of a video game difficulty and badassery that has only been surpassed by games like Minecraft and Ninja Gaiden. The game really just gives you a few keys, a bit of setting and dumps you in the middle of Chernobyl. It's quite simple, but the storyline elements come through pieces and atmosphere. If DRM is that an issue, you'd think with theo irignal being released on Steam, that they'd take vare of most of it, but then again, GSC,'s fairly indie stance on game creation and not straying from the release of STALKER on a physical platform rather than strictly digital.
I highly recommend anyone who really wants a hard atmospheric experience to go out and try it...maybe throw on a few mods and texture packs...just saying. The game's fairly old and has not aged, exactly, well.
