Report: Multiplayer confirmed for Mass Effect 3

It looks like whether we like it or not, we're going to have to live with having multiplayer in Mass Effect 3.

"That's right – Mass Effect 3 is getting multiplayer!" That's the big news on Australian gaming mag PC Powerplay has splashed on its website. The mag's big Mass Effect 3 feature will be gracing the pages of its 197th issue, which is hitting stands next week.

If that's not enough to convince you, here's a short preview of the feature: "We travel to BioWare's office in Edmonton for hands-on time with the series' first foray into online gameplay, and chat with Mass Effect Series Producer and Mass Effect 3 Project Director Casey Hudson about the decision to go multiplayer in the epic battle for the galaxy."

Multiplayer has been a rather polarizing issue for the fanbase of BioWare's popular sci-fi role playing series. I can live without it, but so long as it doesn't affect the quality of the single player experience then it's all good. Further details on the multiplayer component have yet to come to light, but we can probably expect co-op, at the very least.

Mass Effect 3 comes out on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 in March 2012.

Agreed. I think it is another way for EA to use the excuse to curb used copy purchases by having the gamer buy the ea pass thing. I miss the old days where you just pick up the game and play, not having to worry about logging in, undating and so on. I hope Bethesda don't go that route because it is awesome how they let you play some great single player games like the Fallout titles.

hope they don't put in a ton of MP trophies for the platinum. like the OP said (Benoit) single player better not suffer at all.
